The ruins of the old town (protected by UNESCO) are located 12 km from the city in the historical reserve (Sukhothai Historical Park) near Sukhothai airport. They give a vivid picture of the past glory of the ancient capital. In the plan, it is a rectangle, walled on each side of which there are gates: the northern – Sanluang, south – Namo, East – West and Kamphaeng – He. The length of the northern and southern walls – 2 km, west and east – 1.6 km. Within the city Sukhothai airport walls are 4 ponds. Recovered and restored portions of the vast territory (70 sq. km) of the reserve are in excellent condition, with the gardens and ponds caring gardeners Brigade. At the entrance is Ramkamhenga Museum and Sukhothai airport, where all the items found during the excavations are kept.
