Badlands National Park was established in 1978, on the 10th of November. It is located in the south-western part of South Dakota, between the rivers Cheyenne and White. Its area is generally equal to 982 km². Translated name of the national park stands for “badlands”. The protected area has a rich history as a fossil, and human. Thus, the fossils were found in the park, which allow us to study the evolution of a unique North American fauna. The Badlands are the remains of mammals, camels, rhinos, pigs, saber-toothed cats, three-toed horses, and animals that resemble elephants.
