Near the town first enthusiast Barry Brickell planted kauri grove, and then the project was developed within the framework of the international program on forest regeneration. Not far from it passes the narrow-gauge railway, built by the same Barry Brickell in 1975 to recreate the forest, through which you can pass on today – restored kauri forest on top of the hill. On east coast of Coromandel Pacific beaches with clear water are very famous, which unlike from the Tasman Sea it is possible not only to flop into the water between the bars, but also swim. This, however, does not apply to Hot Water Beach, which is known for its hot springs, facing directly the beach, but there is a fairly strong stream in the sea.
