Ko Chang island is located in the Siamese bay of Thailand, in the province of Spending, approximately in 315 kilometres from Bangkok, not far from a border with Cambodia. Starting from 1982 Ko Chang island became a part of National marine reserve, that’s why watersport (skis, water motorcycles etc) is forbidden, there are no enterprises and production, greater part of island is occupied by mountains and untouched jungles. As you see, Ko Chang is ecologically clean resort.
The richest marine flora and fauna, and also the cleanest water that provides visibility up to 20 meters assists Ko Chang island growing into one of diving centers in Thailand. In the south of an island there are few perfect for immersion places: coral reefs are located on a depth from 5 to 25 meters. Submerging is possible at any time of the year, but the best months for diving are from the beginning of October to the end of May.
It is possible to do only trial immersion with the program Discover Scuba Diving (with the receipt of corresponding certificate), and it is possible to use time of stay on an island in an order to pass the complete course of PADI of any complication – from PADI Scuba Diver to instructor.
There is a wide choice of the hotels – starting from the simple wooden bungalows covered with palm leaves to 4 and 5 star hotel of an international class. Then it is possible to choose a beach – quiet and solitary or noisy and populous with bars and restaurants.
The waterfalls of Ko Chang island cause particular interest of tourists. The most popular waterfall is Than Mayom on the east coast. A three-level waterfall falls into the lake. There is a path along the whole water stream that allows to reach the top of the waterfall. During trips through the tropical forests it is possible to see many birds, especially in the areas of Као Laem and Kao Li, where the Hornbills live.
Ko Chang island is a wonderful place for hiking lovers. The best routes pass through central and south parts of tropical jungles. In addition, here it is possible to travel not only on foot but also by elephants.
