The sandy beaches on both sides have “coffee” rock, but in the old part of Monterosso (east) – they are very small, but in a new city – quite extensive, because it’s enjoyed by unfailing love of tourists. This place is called a resort Fegina. Despite its relatively modest size, Monterosso can boast as many as half a hundred hotels (with the biggest hotels are not above four floors). The best are Hotel Palme, Porto Roca and 5 Terre, but it won’t be hard to find budget accommodation options such as guest houses. Main local landmark is, of course, the famous Blue Trail (Sentiero Azzurro), which runs around the village Chinkve-Terre, and its final stretch between Manarola and Riomaggiore, is also known as the “path of love”.
